News from The Boston Conservatory

Through PSG, The Boston Conservatory hired me to design their new line of clothes. This was a one day assignment so I had to bring my creative juices. By the end of the day I gave them a bunch of designs to look at and these made the top 3. Today Sally sent me an e-mail, the new t-shirts have just arrived and they will be available to purchase online soon. She sent me these photos.

I can't wait to see them online. BOCO web store

∑igmaSoft Inc. is now online!

My best man Nik has been working on his own business for a while. He got his company registered and he needed some graphics for his first business. First I sketched some logo ideas, he liked some of them and then added his own twist.
After we finalized his logo, I got his html files and got right into designing his website. I gave him some designs to look at and he told me he liked what he saw. This got me more pumped up, told him right away to get his domain name and a host. He decided to go with our host and get his free domain name ∑igmaSoftConsulting.net, we even have the same server "Missy". Almost done with the website, I need to add couple of things and finish "other services".

Once this is done, I will design his business card, letter head etc. He is good to go! So, what are you waiting for check it out.

UCONN - ICDL Project in Thomas J. Dodd Research Center

The ICDL saga continues in UCONN's Dodd Research Center. My former employer BPI contacted me to do the on-site digitizing of children's books. For this project I had to stay in a campus hotel Nathan Hale Inn just 2 blocks from the Dodd Research Center. The first week on Tuesday they drove me to UCONN and I met Terri Goldich, Curator for the Northeast Children's Literature Collection. She is a great person to work with, very helpful.
After I set up the equipment, I was introduced to Betsy Pittman University Archivist and Curator for Political and Connecticut History Collections, Laura Katz Smith Curator for Business, Railroad, Labor and Ethnic Heritage Collections, Melissa Watterworth Curator for Literary and Natural History Collections, and Thomas Wilsted Director, Thomas J. Dodd Research Center and Head, Archives & Special Collections and finally Sara and Nikky my two helping angels. They helped me so much through out the project.

After I checked in to the hotel, I went right back to work. Sara gave me a map of the campus with extra information of where restaurants were located. Campus is enormous, it is a whole town by itself. I really did not explore the campus that much but what I have seen from a map, yeah it's huge.

Books started to come out of the shelves and we stared the project immediately. Everything was going fast but smooth. Every once in a while a flash won't go off or program crashes might slowed us down but by Thursday we shot over 3,000 pages. Dave came to picked me up and the hard drive contained that weeks files.

Week 2 was pretty quick, Dave drove me to UCONN on Monday and Bill picked me back up on Tuesday after work. Sara, Nikky and I worked so fast I did not have to stay the 3 to 4 weeks as planned. I enjoyed working in UCONN everybody was really pleasant and helpful which makes my job a lot easy. I look forward to work with them again. After coming back to Boston, BPI decided that I would continue working on the production end of the project and this morning I finished the project and transfer the files to the clients hard drive. Mission accomplished.
